Personally, I’m amazed at the technology we have available to us. It’s astounding to have the power to retrieve almost any information and communicate in a thousand different ways using a device that fits in your pocket.

The way I see it, there are six major tech trends we’re in store for in 2018. If you’re eyeing a sector in which to start a business, any of these is a pretty good bet. If you’re already an entrepreneur, think about how you can leverage these technologies to reach your target audience in new ways.
- Artificial Intelligence
The processor – Snapdragon 835 was was designed to handle AI computing tasks better. Everywhere we look, there’s someone trying to add AI to something. And it’s all facilitated by neural networks that Google, Microsoft and their peers continued to invest in this year, acquiring AI startups and launching or expanding AI divisions.
This year, Google, Facebook and Apple launched mobile versions of their machine-learning frameworks, letting developers speed up AI-based tasks in their apps.
So its quite deterministic that 2018 will bring drastic changes to AI culture.2. Voice Driven Applications
While voice search and voice command have been around for many years now, 2017 was the first year I saw the level of sophistication move to a place where it’s actually driving user adoption (myself included). The year 2018 will bring with it more frequent use of voice-driven technologies, with Google making a strong push to improve its technology to catch up to the lead taken by Amazon.This year it was improvised to a new level. Well this may catch up a new level the year 2018.
3. The Internet of Things (IOT’s)
The vision of the Internet of things has evolved due to a convergence of multiple technologies, including ubiquitous wireless communication, real-time analytics, machine learning, commodity sensors, and embedded systems. This means that the traditional fields of embedded systems,wireless sensor networks, control systems, automation (including and building automation), and others all contribute to enabling the Internet of things.
4. Public Cloud Adoption
- Hybrid cloud adoption grew 3X in the last year, increasing from 19% to 57% of organizations surveyed.
- In 15 months, 80% of all IT budgets will be committed to cloud solutions.
- 73% of companies are planning to move to a fully software-defined data center within 2 years.
- 49% of businesses are delaying cloud deployment due to a cybersecurity skills gap.
From support chatbots to social bots and beyond, the game surrounding customer activity is changing very rapidly in favor of automation. Facebook has led the charge by improving the messenger API. I wouldn’t be surprised to see other social platforms follow in its path. Clients who’ve become early adopters have seen huge success, and I see this becoming even more mainstream in 2018.
6 . Machine Learning.
Machine learning has taken some massive strides forward in the past few years, even emerging to assist and enhance Google’s core search engine algorithm. But again, we’ve only seen it in a limited range of applications. Throughout 2017, I expect to see machine learning updates emerge across the board, entering almost any type of consumer application you can think of, from offering better recommended products based on prior purchase history to gradually improving the user experience of an analytics app. It won’t be long before machine learning becomes a kind of “new normal,” with people expecting this type of artificial intelligence as a component of every form of technology.
